ABOUT PIN OAK CAREGIVERS
Pin Oak Caregivers was founded by individuals, who like you, suddenly found themselves caring for a loved one. In 2000, when faced with the decision to place her quadriplegic sister, Victoria, in a nursing facility or to bring her into her home Jane Seger, our founder and CEO, chose the latter. At the same time Pin Oak’s co-founder, Mary Ann Pendino, was making similar decisions regarding her parents, Tony and Carmen.
After ten years of hiring caregivers for their own families and coordinating every aspect of care, Jane and Mary Ann decided to bring their experience and expertise to others. They have acquired a dynamic network of resources that include highly qualified caregivers, doctors, nurses, and social workers. Through their personal experience, they know that every family member needs a break from care. Every individual family member and care recipient has different needs and concerns. They are committed to finding the right solution for your family whether it’s through our services or a by helping you find an alternative arrangement.
We believe the blue print for success is patient and family centered care. We know how essential it is to maintain ongoing communication with our caregivers, the care recipient and family members. About Our Team Members:
Jane Seger, Administrator Jane Seger is a native Houstonian who graduated from the City University of New York. She has owned and operated several successful businesses as well as led an active consulting operation. In 2002 she invited her sister, suffering from advanced multiple sclerosis, to live with her. During this period she became acquainted with many agencies that provided assistance in the home. For two years she was employed as the business development and marketing director at a local private duty agency. In 2012 she teamed up with Ms. Pendino, herself an experienced family caregiver, to open Pin Oak Caregivers. Ms. Seger enjoys reading, entertaining friends and when possible, outsmarting her teenager.
Mary Ann Pendino, Alternate Administrator Mary Ann Pendino is a graduate of Lesley University in Boston. Throughout her career as a writer and teacher, she has worked extensively on innovative projects with Baylor College of Medicine, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Texas Children’s Hospital and most recently, as co-author of “The Brewsters”, an inventive medical ethics text book for the University of Texas Medical School and Health Science Center. Her experience as sole caregiver for her elderly parents has compelled her to help others who are caring for a loved one and to advocate for those who can no longer advocate for themselves. Mary Ann describes herself as a loyal supporter of the arts, an avid theatre-goer, a sporadic swimmer and a pretty good mom.
Conny Suk, Scheduler Conny Suk is a native Texan studying Human Resources at the University of Houston. With both business and retail experience, Conny possesses a balanced combination of organizational and customer service skills. She has traveled extensively around the globe with her family, but has made her home in Houston with her fiancé, Chad. Conny enjoys rock climbing, hiking with her three puppies, and restaurant-hopping at local eateries. (She is the go-to person in our office for take-out!)
Neha Thakkar, Operations Manager Neha describes herself as a management professional, but we consider that an understatement: she holds a Master's Degree in Science, a Master's Degree in Hospital Administration, three post graduate certificates in business, hospital management and personnel management, and is currently working on an MBA at the University of Houston. She has over fifteen years of field experience in hospital management, healthcare administration, business operations, human resource management, client relations and consulting, as well as extensive teaching and training experience. She is passionate about helping others. On the personal side, she loves learning about philosophy from her husband, spending time with her family, long walks, trekking, dogs and movies.
Cary Nunn, Care Manager
Although born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Cary arrived in Houston at the ripe old age of two...so she knows her way around our town! She received her LVN license from Houston Community College and both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from University of St. Thomas in Religious Education. As she likes to say, she went from "caring for bodies to caring for souls". She has worked with children, adults, families and seniors, and as a Case Manager for individuals and families dealing with HIV/AIDS. She brings a vast scope of experience to Pin Oak and we are privileged have her on our team.
Cary has a sunny personality and rarely meets a stranger. She enjoys travelling, spending time with her family and the several thousand people she calls "friend".
